Soft Velvet Lounge – Life of the Party

Directly in the wake of Men I Trust, Crumb, and Moon Panda, Soft Velvet Lounge has been quietly carving out its place in the dream-pop landscape with its debut album Life of the Party, released in June 2022. True to the band’s evocative name, their music wraps listeners in a cocoon of softness and reverie, blending floaty textures with chorus-drenched guitars, tremolo, and reverb — the perfect recipe for dream pop.

Formed in 2020 in Alaska after months of Covid-19 lockdowns, Jasyln “Jazz” Talia began posting acoustic sketches online in search of collaborators. It was bassist Zedadiah Martinez who stood out. Working remotely at first, and later in Martinez’s home studio, the pair crafted an album that’s already convincing — and, more importantly, full of promise.
